How can I fix my Nextar GPS so that I can use navigation screen on it?

I did reset it or turned it off and on again previous to your answering my question. It downloads and turns on and I can go from thr Navigation screen by pressing OK on the remote. It then takes me to my location on a map but when I press menu to navigate it goes back to Navigation. It also realizes I am off road so I feel it is working except for the toggling to the destination screen. Am I using the remote wrong. I just replaced the battery in my remote and it seems to send a clear signal. Yes you need to be in a moving vehicle to get directions because the GPS senses your movement through satellites and then knows in which direction you are moving. If you stand at one place it can't give you direction. Thank you
