Facing problems in downloading MP3 in Vista?

Recently I bought this new system for me with Windows Vista Home installed in it. Yesterday I noticed that I was not able to play an MP3 file contained on a website. When I tried to play the file I got a message if I would like to save the file to a disc. After this I cross checked it with one of friends using Vista and he had the same results. When I tried to download the same song from the same website on my XP it worked. Do you have any idea what the problem is all about? Is it in Vista or there is something wrong with the latest version of it?

Recently many Windows Vista users are facing tremendous problems in downloading and playing of MP3 format files using it. Many have reported that these files are not supported in Windows Vista. Here is a short remedy on how you can successfully remove this error.

Solution-

I would suggest that you should try to download the file using other popular browsers like Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. If the problem persists you may reboot your computer and check whether the file is downloaded or not.

Otherwise, I would like to suggest having a look whether Java is installed on your desktop. If not, you can download the 'Java Runtime Environment (JRE)’. This might help you. If you have Java already installed in your computer try to update with the latest version of Java that is available.

Otherwise you can apply the following steps:

Go to 'Default Programs' from your Control Panel. Select the option- 'Associate a file type or protocol with a program'.

After that, double click on the file type under the 'name', column. A list of 'Recommended Programs' will be opened. Click on 'Windows Media Player' and confirm your selection.

Your problem is sure to be fixed.
