Japan is working on a hi-tech security and surveillance program to combat terrorism and crime under which citizen’s faces will be turned into unique bar codes by recording and analyzing facial data.

The eye brows are raised by the public on the whole concept on the basis of breach of individual privacy. Also, the bizarre implementation of the program where general public at Tokyo’s Kasumigaseki Station will be, sort of, trapped by closing ticket gates to take the shots has made it complicated, but still it’s being implemented.

But can security be sacrificed for privacy? Of course, yes, when the question is of nation’s security, privacy must take a back seat.
