If rumours and a leak from SanDisk, which are flying thick and fast, all across the web are to be believed, Sandisk is all set to challenge the revolutionary, cult Ipod nano with the Fuze. Does the Fuze have the ammunition to dethrone the mighty Nano. Read on. The ultra successful and now ubiquitous Ipod Nano from Apple has long dominated the small capacity MP3 segment with its constant makeovers and upgrades and has in due time withstood many a challenge from rivals ranging from Samsung’s Yepp to Iriver and now is facing another rival in the form of yet-to-be-officially announced albeit leaked Sansa Fuze. Now what does the Fuze bring to the table to take on the Nano. On first glance the Sandisk Fuze looks like a condensed version of Microsoft’s Zune, right to the asymmetrically shaped jog wheel with an integrated selector button which doesn’t do much for Sansa’s quest to beat the Ultra Chic Nano. Personally, i think the styling is well below what it takes to beat the Nano.
But ofcourse, style is very personal and what is beautiful to one might be an eyesore to the other. The Fuze is taller than the wider Nano. But the screen size is expected to be on par or bigger than the Nano. the Fuze, like most MP3 players in this segment will feature a flash memory of a 4 to 8gb capacity identical to the Nano. The music and video capabilities also are expected to be in the ballpark of the Nano. Finally the Fuze offers something more than the Nano. Apparently, a radio player which has never been offered in any ipod makes it to the Fuze. This feature just might prove to be the Nano’s Achilles’ heel although successive challengers have fallen by the wayside even after having a radio.
Stereo FM recording on the Fuze would be a very nice touch. Are you listening Sandisk? On a Positive note, the Sansa looks to be a worthy competitor on all counts except styling, which again is a matter of personal tastes. The Fuze looks like it has all the ammo to take on the Nano but beating the Nano in its own game will be a different matter altogether.

Nano set the trend and there are bound to be clone or very similar car manufacturers. This hardly comes as a surprise.
Oh this is too boring. we have too many ipod clones. this is hardly any news.

Car? What car?
Sorry John. I thought it was about the Tata Nano small car launched recently in India.
I have the Sansa Fuze and I have to say it is one of the best MP3 players I have yet to own. I got mine from the Sansa store, www.shopsansa.com with a discount code I found on the net. I ended up getting an MP3 player that holds 8Gbs with room to expand for a better price than any other MP3 player I looked at.
I got this over the weekend from a shop owner friend of mine here in Salford and it is absolutely the best player I could’ve gotten in its price range. It is simple enough for an 8-year old to use, yet, riddled with features: audio, video, expandable memory, FM radio, voice recorder, and so on. The battery life is note-worthy as I have played it non-stop more than half a day on Sunday and haven’t charged yet - that is something. I just hope they come out with the 16GB microsdhc memory card soon (sometimes, i wish all my electronic had the regular SD in them, but i guess the small form factor and power efficiency is a good trade-off). I recommend it to anybody who is looking for a good player.
