What can be more incredible than equipping a quad-rotor helicopter with SRV1 controller? And one could call it a SRV- UAV. It has shown interesting results on ground with wheeled vehicles, but now is ready to inquire the skies as well. The maker has calls it the X-3D-BL Scientific.

New quad rotor from Ascending Technologies GmbH in Stockdorf, Germany, includes integration of the SRV-1 Blackfin camera and radio board with the UAV flight controls, onboard inertial measurement unit, and brushless motor controls. The result yielded a 38kbps UART in interface between Blackfin and UAV. An 11.1V LiPoly battery pack powers the SRV-1 boards.

After some indoor flight tests, it waits for ultrasonic ranging module and flight controls from the SRV1Console through the Blackfin to the X-3D via the UART and ultimately to capture video through the SRV1Console video archive function. Further, it has a long way to go with servo control of the camera tilt angle. Catch it in action in the video below.
