Developers in Israel have developed a large watch-like bracelet to keep patients suffering with Alzheimer’s and dementia under check. Dubbed the Home Free Elite, the wrist-worn device is based on the wireless communication platform which keeps a real time track and relays continuous information gathered from a body-borne sensor to the monitoring center where the health care professionals keep track.
The wearable device emits signals of a patient’s whereabouts, alerting the nurses and doctors about whether the patient is inside the facility or has moved out, or if the patient is in some kind of danger to which he needs attention. Getting information in real time, the medical professionals at the data receiving end can respond to it urgently and on priority. The device lacks a GPS system for now, but a new device is being tailored with GPS signaling.
