The Singapore Flyer, currently the world’s largest ferris wheel, made its debut on Monday,the 11th of February. The Singapore Flyer will not only offer a bird’s eye view of the city-state, but also of parts of neighboring Malaysia and Indonesia! So, if you are not scared of heights, you can definitely take a ride on it. On Monday night, about 700 executives from 17 corporations and their guests sipped wine and nibbled on salmon canapés while soaking up the view of the Southeast Asian city-state by night. Guess, what was the inaugural ticket price? A whopping S$8,888 (3,200 pounds) per capsule! Thankfully, the regular ticket price will be approximately S$30 per head. Singapore Flyer reaches 42 stories high, it comprises of a 150-metre (in diameter) high wheel built over a three-story terminal building, thus giving it a total height of 165 metres. The ferris wheel has 28 air-conditioned capsules capable of holding 28 passengers each, with a complete rotation time of approximately 30 minutes.

Even though the developers of the Singapore Flyer are trying to project it as the tallest ferris wheel, it is for the time being, till the Great Beijing Wheel, in Beijing China which is expected to be complete in 2009 is launched.
