
Korean electronic giants LG are taking their TFT-LCD prowess to a whole new level and the company has just unveiled its successful attempt at manufacturing the world’s largest 6-inch elliptical and 1.4-inch circular-shaped LCDs. Taking a giant leap towards the next generation of alternative displays, the non-traditional display boast of 262k color credentials and have a near 160 degree viewing angle that make them ideal for use in digital photo frames and instrument panels for automobiles and home electronics as well as smaller digital devices like cellphone, gaming devices and watches. The company plans to launch various device concepts featuring the new displays at the 2008 Society for Information Display (SID) exhibition to be held in LA later this month.
