A new e-paper developed, so what, but, what if it’s the highest resolution e-paper, do you met out the same eye of neglect, still? Perhaps, you have got it right, in the crazy world of technological advancement, nothing really involves skepticism. LG Philips LCD Co., the world’s second-largest liquid-crystal display firm, has obliged us with its latest revelation - a 14.3-inch flexible color E-paper - touted by the makers as the world’s highest resolution E-paper. The 14.3-inch flexible color E-paper developed is equal to a size of an A4 size paper, but is still a great pick for the high-end multimedia applications, which it would be capable of performing with its extraordinary 1280 by 800 pixels resolution, and 16.7 million different colors that the E-paper can produce. LG.Philips LCD is expected to display this E-paper at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2008, scheduled from January 7 to 10, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Improving four times upon the resolution provided by some of its predecessors, this 300 micrometers thin display, isn’t just flexible (owing to the metal foil and plastic substrates used instead of glass substrate) but is very energy-efficient simultaneously - using power only when the image changes. The 14.3-inch display can be viewed from a full 180 degrees, and it uses thin-film transistors (TFT) on metal foils, that keep the image crisp even when the shape is altered with.
