World's first commercial quantum dot-based image sensor, QuantumFilm
Cameras on the handsets have reached over 12MP; still there isn’t a really perfect sensor that’ll help them achieve great quality. To take a step in that direction, InVisage Technologies has developed world's first commercial quantum dot-based image sensor, the QuantumFilm. Embedded with technology that supports higher light-capture properties ( to capture best pics in low light with lesser form factor cameras), the sensor in contrast to regular silicon sensors delivers 4 times higher performance and 2 times higher dynamic range. This high quality is brought about by QuantumFilm sensor by capturing images and then transmitting them onto the regular silicon-based CMOS sensor, to be read and then be processed in best quality. All said we’ll actually want to see the results from QuantumFilm sensors, but for that we’ll have to wait until the fourth quarter of the year.
