A womb transplant, isn’t that an outright boon for women with inabilities to reproduce? Obviously a better alternative than surrogacy and adoption, I think for women with cervical cancer and other problems, which cost them the pleasure of motherhood. Scientists have been trying womb transplants in rabbits and other experimental animals, and now finally scientists in Britain believe they have cracked the crux to carry out a successful womb transplant.
In an effort to reach a stride closer to carrying out the first womb transplant in humans, the scientist have worked out finer ways to transplant a womb with a good blood supply making sure that the graft lasts longer, allowing the recipient mother to bear the baby to develop fully in there. The only catch here would be that the desiring women will have to conceive through IVF, as it is believed that normal course would lead to risk of ectopic pregnancy, and the baby will be have to be delivered by a Caesarean section, as women with the transplant will not be in a condition to bear the natural labor pains.
Previous transplants in animals have been failures, and in the case of humans, the transplanted womb had to be removed owing to blocked vessels and other complications. In this latest experiment, scientists have managed to transplant the womb with all arteries, veins and vessels to perfection, indicating us to gear up for the breakthrough to give women the scientific grace to carry the human race forward.
