Welcome the future where batteries charge with vibration, no really!

Brother Industries Ltd., with an objective to reduce toxic waste created by discarded portable batteries, has devised “Vibration-powered Generating Battery” which recharges with vibration. Sounds strange, but it’s true. This power generator in disguise of a battery generates power whenever the user shakes the remote control, flashlight or any other electronic that has this battery inside. Made in AA and AAA sizes the battery uses “electromagnetic induction generator and an electric double layer capacitor with a capacitance of about 500mF” to produce 10 to 180mW of power. Recharging for so much energy with vibration alone, the Vibration-powered Generating Battery could be a cool and clean alternative for non Li-ion batteries.
