For those of you who still like to let out the inner child to splash in water but are held back for different reasons, Mike Burton has the perfect solution. Burton’s creation, the Waterboard, is an interactive display that allows you to play with water without getting in, since there is no actual contact. The installation consists of an opaque board measuring 2.2mx8m, fitted with four projections and four cameras for back-projection and detection. The user can draw lines on whiteboard, or use any part of his body, to influence the course of water. The Waterboard is quite realistic with collections of water growing murky and some even showing the presence of life forms. Install the Waterboard, winner of the 2007 RSA Design directions award, at your house for an educative and entertaining experience.
