Saltwater catches fire - Yes, it really does!

Can water catch fire? Ask John Kanzius, the researcher accidentally made a crucial discovery that shows the method of burning saltwater with radio wave machine, which is used for killing cancer cells.

The US-based TV engineer achieved the feat while he was testing his external radio-wave generator to kill cancerous cells. He filled a test tube with salt water. Then he placed the tube and a paper towel in the machine. The radio wave machine accidentally caught fire. That's how it happened.

The process is highly useful in generating hydrogen from water, which in turn can be burned as fuel. However, the method that Kanzius showed is energy consuming. The radio frequency device consumes more heat energy to desalinate water.

Kanzius has also agreed that his discovery should not be considered permanent solution to derive fuel from water.

However, it may provide some vital inputs to future researchers to develop new methods in this direction.
