Life for the visual impaired has been steadily changing for the better with numerous technologies and gadgets prepped up for their cause. An additional design introduced with the same motive is the “VIA” Visually Impaired Assistant designed by Noam Klopper. The VIA is a pair of hand-worn device which using Video Motion Detection act both as a walking stick and a mapping system to guide the visually impaired around obstacles. The VIA has 4 mini cameras, and a voice operated GPS receiver embedded into it which guides the user away from obstacles, thus leading him to the destination that has been fed to the GPS receiver in spoken words. The VIA looks just fine on the hands incase you were wondering. When you run out of charge, the VIA can be easily charged via a wirelessly functioning mat. Hit the jump to see how the VIA works.
