Ubiquitous Corporation, a Tokyo based leading embedded software company has come up with a new consumer plan aimed to keep a tab on the electricity used at home. It is practically difficult to explore and confirm the power consumption of each electric device at home but this power bar called iRemo tap may change that for good by making power usage a visual scrutinizer accessed and controlled through smartphones or PC at any desired period.

The iRemo tap power bar though the cloud server transmits graphical information to the user though the internet about the energy consumption of each connected electrical device. The main strength of this device lies in its built-in wireless LAN module that enables the embedded microcomputer within the device. Each user receives the power-usage information through a selected web site that receives automatic communications uploaded from the LAN module of the iRemo Tap.
Furthermore, whenever power utilization exceeds a designated mark the remote tap bar notifies the cloud server which in turn sends e-mail notifications or tweets ito the user for further actions. The user conveniently, even when away from home, is able to control power supply to his/her air conditioner, rice-cooker or electric kettle through his smartphone or laptop. The control of each outlet over the Internet makes this device uniquely helpful to conserve electricity as well as money.
The Ubiquitous Corp is planning to market this power bar for a price of few thousand yen. The practical demonstrations of the product will however be conducted at the 14th Embedded Systems Expo (ESEC), May, 2011, in Tokyo.
