Driving down a busy road, with traffic speeding past you from all sides is always stressing. The driver besides concentrating on the road ahead, has to keep a referring eye on everything happing around, while the blind spot is always confusing. Now, how about a vibrating seat that warns you of approaching vehicles and relieves you of looking around, visual and audio warning systems, thus keeping you free to focus on the road ahead.

Well, this is what a researcher at Yale University is working on. John Morrell developed a car seat with few cellphone vibration motors, which warns a driver of approaching vehicles by vibrating. Sensors are mounted on to the car that relay information of an approaching vehicle to the vibration motors, which then alerts the driver. When a vehicle approaching from the left is sensed, the left side of the seat vibrates more, and when a vehicle is sensed on the right side, the right side of the seat vibrates harder. The new vibrating car seat could be frustrating, but would, I guess, keep drivers more focused, thereby helping in curbing accidents.
