Via has added another member to its C7 processor family. The new

ultra-low-voltage processor C7-M ULV promises highest

performance-per-Watt, smallest packaging, and fastest cryptographic

engine of any available x86-compatible processor. With its new

processor Via aims to capture the growing ultra mobile PC market. The

compact 21mm square C7-M ULV supports clock speeds from 1GHz to 1.5GHz,

and sucks in 3.5 and 7.5 Watts of power which is claimed to be most

efficient as compared to the currently available x86 and Intel Pentium

M chips.

The “C5J Esther” core forms the basis of the new processor with support

for SSE2 and SSE3 instructions for better 3D performance, a full-speed

FPU (floating point unit), 16 pipeline stages, 128KB each of L1 and L2

cache. Initially five models of the Via C7-M ULV series are introduced

with clock speeds ranging between 1GHz and 1.5GHz and 400MHz FSB.
