Vehicles in California get electronic license plates with flashing ads
How can technology help with the government is facing a financial deficit in the state exchequer? Well, Californian Legislature has the answer in the use of electronic license plates for vehicles. The Legislature is considering a bill which would have vehicles on roads with electronic advertising on the license plates. These ad-blaring license plates would display the standard display plate information when the car is moving and would flash ads when the car is stopped for over four seconds. The electronic license plates are not considered distracting or annoying, but would a certain advantage in the non parking slots. Your number wouldn’t appear on the plate and so those cops can’t bill you for wrong parking (just a thought). The bill has been unanimously passed in the Senate is scheduled to be heard in Assembly Transportation Committee.
