Music isn’t only what is played at us, but is also what it is played out off. As music reaches ultimate portability with latest iPods, smartphones and other tiny music players, headphones have caught up the never evading trend. Now, take these really inventive headphones from Urbanears, a Scandinavian design collective, seeing these I’m compelled to say that the market is still open for more. Urbanears has three headphone sets with varying utilities, viz-a-viz the Plattan, the Tanto and the Medis.

Plattan is designed as a classic headphone; it is full in size and allows rich and scheduled sounds. Made with a hinge construction, the headphones can be folded to a fraction of its size. With a built-in 40mm driver, the Plattan has a zound plug, a creative slot on the earcap which allows others to plug in to listen to whatever you’re listening to. Tanto like the Plattan comes with a size adjustment module to fit all. It is a classic headphone that revives the ’80s revolution in mobile music.

Medis too comes with a sleek and minimal design and functionality like the other siblings, but the obvious benefit here is of an in-ear. With it, the headphones also feature an EarClick construction which anchors the ear-piece securely in place for perfect comfort. Urbanears offers the headphones in 14 color variations with cable fabric covered cable extensions and built-in microphones. Each headphone has a 3.5mm stereo plug and is compatible with almost all smatphones including iPhone, Nokia, Blackberry, and HTC.
