Microsoft’s new application Unwrap Mosaics allows you to create movie special effects right at home. You would only have to draw your edit once and the application would take that information to make changes through the video, as a video is a collection of still images. The application strips and unwraps the surface and produces a 2D surface, which can later be easily edited using photo-editing software. Now, the 2D skin has to capture every bit of the 3D surface and the software tracks 5000 points to fully unwrap an object that has to be edited or you wish to create special effects for. The final unwrapped skin contains more information than the original one and the edits made before unwrapping is reversed to make the changes throughout the movie.
