We’re comparatively late on this one, but worrying about being late shouldn’t be considered when the gadget in question is slated for 2012 or even later. The rolling tech world gives new options only for a price, but OLPC is responsible for turning that notion on its head, providing us with wholesome laptops for a price not more than that of a candy box.

After thriving on the success of the predecessors, the OLPC XO and the OLPC XO-2, and imbibing the merits of the two, we have designer Yves Behar tipping in the latest and most fancy of them all, the OLPC XO-3 concept. Conditioned in an impressive 8.5 x 11-inch multitouch screen, the XO-3 wears super-thin semi-flexible plastic, is backlit and like the XO can optimize its display to reflective modes for all kinds of lighting conditions — and all this is marked for a $75 tag. With waterproof ability and only half the size of an iPhone in thickness, the XO-3 would feature a color-screen e-reader, a camera and induction for charging.
