Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, which for long have been the secret domain of armies around the world are now slowly heading out they are into museums. Here are three UAVs that are currently being displayed at the Smithsonian Institution. First up we have the RQ3-A Darkstar. This UAV is designed to fly at a dizzy 45000 feet, completely autonomously for eight long hours. From those heights, the UAV mainly did surveillance duty, to act as an eye-in-the-sky for the U.S Military.
Next up is the MQ1-L Predator that is currently doing duty in the battlefields of Iraq. This UAV needs to be controlled from the ground by a pilot and can fire hellfire missiles at enemy installations with pinpoint precision. All this, with the pilot sitting safe and sound in the control room.

Here is the big one of them all, the X45A Joint Unmanned Combat Air System. This is the UAV that has the ability to perform like a real fighter jet. It does this with it’s GPS guided weapon delivery system and can be controlled with a radio signals which means that it has almost a range that covers the entire face of the earth. But, then again, we hope that all this technology can be used for peaceful purposes than for destroying innocent lives.
