Tyan redefines the way we perceive personal computing with the introduction of its ‘personal supercomputer’ at Computex 2006. The Typhoon will take you by storm with its 8 Intel low-voltage ‘Woodcrest’ Xeon processors, 8 USB, 8 Gigabit Ethernet ports and up to 48GB of memory.
The 68 x 36 x 32cm Typhoon features four removable motherboard units, each with a pair of dual-core Xeon 5100-series LV CPUs and 12GB of registered 533MHz or 667MHz DDR 2 SDRAM. Each ‘node’ board with its separate power cable takes a single SATA storage device and generates under 45dB of noise.
The $10,000 wheel-mounted machine will hit the market in August.
