Twister-inspired interactive floor game makes learning fun

Posted By: Asmita Prasad | Mar 18 2008

Taking a cue from the body-wrenching floor game Twister and applying Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences to it, a team of researchers including designers Kaj Gronbek, Ole Sejer Iversen, Karen Johanne Kortbek, Kaspar Rosengreen Nielsen, and Louise Aagaard have developed the Wisdom Well, an IT-based kinesthetic learning and entertainment set-up that lets users use their bodies as well as their minds in collaborative games and explorative digital simulations. With learning at its core, the Wisdom Well transcends the traditional boundaries of PC-based digital entertainment and interactive learning by using the stimulation of one intelligence area to enhance, potentially, skills within another intelligence area. We don’t as yet know exactly how successful this system is in actually making people smarter, but since it’s as good as Twister, we’re willing to give it a go.
