How would you react if suddenly one day your trash can walked upto your cubicle on crab-like legs, told you jokes in a crazy robo-voice, tossed dices all over your evening reports and performed all kinda scary antics? I’d probably freak out and hide in the loo or something but if you live anywhere near Japan, the probability of that trash can actually being Push-kun (a.k.a. Mr. Push) would be higher than that of aliens having abducted your office trash can and replacing it with one of their own “shape shifters”. Created by Osaka-based Robot Force, the Push-kun is a rather meaningless invention, if you discount its non-sensical stand-up routine, but I guess the Japanese are really sick of coming up with things the world could actually benefit from, which of course is the only reason which would explain why this stupid bot earned a spot in the Baka RoboCup 2007 competition (which apparently is solely dedicated to recognizing the entertainment skills of the most pointless robots made in a year!). The dumb robot was ridiculous enough to not even win that competition, but I kept this video from a robo conference in Tokyo to watch when I’m really stoned someday.
