Restoring eyesight for the blind has reached new realms of clinical ability. Still there’s no stopping designers who design various new and interesting ideas to help visually impaired go autonomous and self-directed in the world outside. While students are trying to convert spatial information into 3D acoustic maps that would enable the blind see, a dynamic designer Natalia Ponomareva has designed a navigation system which shows a tactile display for directions and then provides an audio instruction to the user’s ear, guiding him to take the indicated direction. Dubbed the Touch & Go, this blind aid device consists of a hand worn navigator and an earphone to hear the instructions. The wearable navigator shows the directions as a relief map in a 1:1000 scale, while the earpiece is perfectly used to ingest the auditory support.
