Toshiba has delayed the launch of its HD-XA2, a 2nd generation HD DVD player because it failed the final quality check. The blame is being put on an outsourced LSI component.
The HD DVD is equipped with HDMI 1.3 and has the resolution of up to 1080pixel. Now in the rescheduled mode the player will hit the market in the first week of December if all remains well by that time.
Toshiba also joins Sony as the latter had also announced delay of its much awaited high-def DVD.
The HD-DVD is estimated to be priced at $999.
