Toshiba unveils the world's first glasses-free 3D laptop

Toshiba Corporation has announced a new innovative laptop on Wednesday, 20 April 2011, that lets you have a completely new experience of viewing 3D without glasses. And what's more, along with viewing glasses-free 3D, you can also watch 2D simultaneously in another 15.6-inch screen window. They have named it the Toshiba dynabook Qosmio T851/D8CR. This unique technology works by sending slightly different images to each of the eyes, and also facial tracking by the webcam.

Toshiba is already in the focus in the field of glasses-free 3D with its glasses free 3D laptop and glasses-free 3D 65-inch TV making waves at CES 2011. This time, with the dynabook Qosmio T851/D8CR, Toshiba is a step ahead in its 3D innovation. The most attractive feature of this product is its real-time conversion from 2D to 3D and the Active Lens technology allowing individual parts of a LED panel to display 3D.

The dynabook Qosmio T851/D8CR uses a dedicated image processor, SpursEngine, for the 2D to 3D conversion. The 3D images more natural as well as eye-friendly with Toshiba's new "Face3D" that uses high-speed, highly-accurate face detection technology to locate faces in 2D images and applies human depth template to the images; and also Caption stabilizer that detects captions in the images and keeps them in front. Active Lens technology controls the polarization of the Led panel light. It can be turned on and off to get 3D and 2D images respectively, which means the user can enjoy 2D and 3D simultaneously in separate windows on a single display.

Whereas users can multi-task on this device using different dimensions, it also consists of a second-generation Core i5-2410M processor along with a 750GB hard-drive, Nvidia GeForce GT540M, harman/kardon speakers, Blu-ray player, and a Ram of up to 8GB.

The price of this product is not available yet. However, shipping is likely to begin in Japan in late July. Go get it and enjoy the never-before experience!
