Toshiba has released the MK3233GSG series of 1.8-inch hard disk drives, which available in capacities of up to 320GB are touted to be the highest capacity 1.8-inch HDDs. Made in magnetic layers with a magnetic recording head, the hard drives offer an areal density of 801Mbit/mm2 (516Gbpsi). Specifically tailored for mobile PC, the hard drives with serial ATA interface, 5,400rpm rotational speed and a 16MB buffer memory will push the now available processing speeds and storage capacities to a new high. Beside this the drives are 19% more efficient than their predecessors and also cut noise during seek to quite an extent. Toshiba is slated to begin the mass production of the HDDs from December.
