Toshiba demos OCB LCD technology
Toshiba recently came up with the development of a 4.3-inch transflective1 liquid crystal display (LCD) prototype panel, a first of its kind in the LCD industry with integrated optically compensated bend (OCB) technology that features both a wide viewing angle in addition a quick response time and transflective technology, which guarantees high view facility in al fresco sunlight environments.

The newly added characteristics are highly demanded in mobile apps, which must be simply viewable under a large variety of ambient light conditions. The newly-crafted unit features the same wide viewing angle and quick response time performance in the transmissive mode as attained in current OCB LCD panels, plus also comes with wide viewing angle and an even more quick response time (2.4ms) performance in the reflective mode.
The latest product is also said to be having excellent viewability even in direct sunlight and promises a high grade of display quality in both indoor and outdoor environments. Besides, not just does it put forward quick video display performance in ordinary temperature ranges, but too at low temperature ranges, so accommodating wide-ranging app environments, making the latest LCD panel compatible for mobile apps even while viewing still and/or moving pictures in an al fresco surroundings.
