1 Microsoft Zune: Microsoft has launched the Zune, a new $ 250 media player, which allows users to easily change songs between devices. The first model of Zune was equipped with a 30 GB hard drive, built-in FM tuner with Radio Data System, a three-inch screen, and Wi-Fi networking. The Microsoft’s Zune supports MP3, WMA and AAC. Zune supports Microsoft’s WMV movie format. Pre-loaded music, videos, and images ship with the device. Zune is continuously changing its features from Zune to Zune Wi-Fi connection. The Zune Wi-Fi communication allows the sharing of songs, recordings, playlists and pictures. Windows Mobile 5.0 based Zune Software can also stream music, videos, and pictures to Xbox 360 via a home network.

2 Nokia N 93: The Nokia N 93 is especially designed for multimedia use. The N93 has improved features than previous generation, N90. The phone has a 3.2 megapixel camera, Carl Zeiss optics and 3x optical zoom as well as a DVD-like 30 frames per second VGA-resolution video recording capability. The N93 has also 50MB internal, 2GB SD card storage, 3G EDGE and GSM networks.

3 Windows Vista: This year Microsoft has launched the Microsoft Office system 2007 and Exchange Server 2007, for businesses. Microsoft has also featured with new multimedia creation tools like Windows DVD Maker, and completely redesigned networking, audio, print, and display sub-systems. Vista also increases the level of communication between machines on a home network using peer-to-peer technology.

4 Apple’s iPod: Apple has also introduced an updated fifth generation iPod, which includes large, wide screen color display, a click wheel and the capability to display photos and videos. Apple’s iPod does not support Microsoft’s WMA audio format but basically it is a converter for non-DRM WMA files with the Windows version of iTunes. The fifth Generation iPods also plays MPEG-4, .mp4 and QuickTime video formats, with restrictions on video dimensions, encoding techniques and data rates.
