The world is altering for the pits and sometimes the advancement just scares the hell out of you. Is technology all about making humans lethargic? Imagine sitting in your office and herding your cattle from the desk! Sound bizarre right? But this could be the truth which the lazy cowboys would love in the times to come. Thanks to USDA researcher, Dean M. Anderson who has succeeded in developing a GPS device that would tame the movement of the bovines. It is more of a wireless headset dubbed the Ear-A-Round which sits atop the mammals head (see picture) and controls its movement using familiar sounds which is a song in Andersons case.
The device is powered through a solar energy panel and is expected to curtail land abuse from over grazing thus guiding the cattle to graze desired lands. Other than this, it would also help researchers understand the animal behaviour throughout the day assisting them in more conclusive researches. The sad part is that if the bovine doesn’t respond to the sound on the headset he will have to bear a small shock to respond to the owners call but it won’t be the entire cattle adorning this thingamajig, instead, the herd leader would be the one to wear it for the tendency of cows to follow leaders. Ask me of the advantage and the only one would be the cowboys converting their physical energy into cognitive for the availability of abundant time.
