TILTO: A personal vehicle that sets balancing act in vogue

Small travels from home to office, to the nearby market or to the park next block, had always been a matter of concern as a drive would make it seem garish. Whereas, a walk would cause tiredness and discomfort. Taking a new spin on personal mobility, an Argentine hobbyist Marcelo Fornaso has come up with a new innovative TILTO stylized for individual inspired by the mechanism of an inverted pendulum.

Seeing the market interests in small automated vehicles, major players in the automobile manufacturing sector have joined the bandwagon with revolutionary contributions that has redefined personal travel largely. Marcelo Fornaso, a hobbyist from Argentina has come up with one called the TILTO, to compliment. Enthused by vehicles like Segway, he has designed an electric personal transportation that is underlined with automatic bi-directional balancing emphasizing safety and ease of travel.

Fornaso opined that while in Paris, he travelled in a Segway and found that the vehicle got a mechanical rigidity that posed troubles specially while managing inclined curves at high speeds. The driver tends to be thrown off the board unless he bends forward to keep himself close to his vehicle. Taking into consideration such detailed factors, he envisioned the concept of an “inverted pendulum” that might prove to be more functional. He devised the TILTO made of handlebars and standing boards along with a 'tilt wheel' that would ease maneuvering curves and balance body movements while changing directions.

Combining 3 Accelerometers and 2 gyros on a microprocessor, the vehicle gets its desired tilting angles. With a maximum speed of 12 mph over a range of about 9 miles, the TILTO is safe to travel in all terrains with or without inclinations. Being fully electric it makes way for a complete noise free safe travel.
