Come Mobile World Congress and we have so many new technologies knocking at our door, one of the most exciting reveal here is from TI, which showed the world a tablet-sized device with a 3D display. Not just it, the device doesn’t require any special glassed to view 3D content, now isn’t this really spectacular? Running an exciting new TI OMAP3 chipset, the device promises high-definition 3D movies. The device overlaying a special 3M film to direct images to either the left or the right eye, was shown displaying images and video in 3D by using a standard 120-Hz LCD. The images were running at 60 fps in contrast to 30fps usually. The 3D content here is created using a 3MP cameras and an 800-MHz TI OMAP 3630 chipset. We learn that the image quality is pretty good but the movie bit is slightly disappointing to the claims. Still the best part for me is that 3D content can be turned back 2D anytime, and the images can then be seen at 1080p.
