WiMax has been the hot thing in wireless internet connectivity for quite some time now and even as this technology is being adopted by more and more cities across the world, it is slowly trickling down to the mobile devices in the commercial market. Acer has made an early move on this technological front and has brought in the WiMax technology into it’s Montevina-based notebook computers. The Montevina is the name of a new processor platform by Intel which uses very little power to work and it also can support the DDR3 RAM technology along with WiMax. Meanwhile, the Montevina platform is all set to supersede Intel’s Santa Rosa platform. So it is very safe to assume that the Acer notebooks with the Montevina platform will bring more performance, Wimax connectivity and less power consumption to the table. The Acer Montevina notebooks sporting WiMax will see a commercial launch in June or July. We will bring you an update as soon as these Acer notebooks are launched. Stick around.
