The Jeep Beamline is like the LHC of X-rays with its immensely powerful rays. At 10 billion times more brightness than the sun (!) and 100 billion times brighter than the average hospital X-ray machines, the Jeep will spend its life unlocking historical secrets when it goes into action this autumn. Being constructed at Oxfordshire, the Jeep will be able to examine artifacts in incredible detail, going to the scale of micrometers.

British Museum scientists will be the first to use the Joint Engineering, Environmental and Processing (JEEP) Beamline to study some Egyptian bronze statues. Electrons will be powered up to 3 GeV for use. The precision of the Jeep offers a lot for the manufacturers too, and companies like Rolls Royce have already displayed interest.
