We live in an era where the creepy and bizarre meet the aesthetic and ingenious. Sometimes, the line between both is so blur that you would lose your head trying to figure out the underlying thought behind a concept - a quandary best exemplified by the Walking Head Robot.
The Walking Head Robot is certainly not designed for kids, and definitely not for the tasteless, either! Australian artist Stelarc has worked his fingers to the bone to create a concept that is sure to win the hearts of connoisseurs of art as well as technology.
The robot is a walking ultra-sound sensor (time for sleeping guards to walk out!) that alerts users about human presence. With a pre-programmed sequence of reactive movements and eerie facial distortions, such as nods, turns, tilts and at times, even vocalizations, the robot can effortlessly send chills down your spine if you are not acquainted with the tilt sensor system it uses for orientation.
The Walking Head Robot will make its first appearance in October this year at the dott 07 festival. The fearless ones out there are welcome!
