Meet Spray, the swimming robot that will start its voyage from Greenland and glide up to the coast of Spain at 2,484 nautical miles. No; definitely not for scuba diving at that speed but to collect valuable information on global warming.

Developed jointly by Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Massachusetts and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in California this autonomous underwater vehicle, or AUV, Spray will collect information with respect to temperature, currents and salinity, assisting scientists to 'better understand the role of oceans in regulating the global climate.' The data will be collected via sensors packed inside the Spray and will be transmitted through a GPS antenna on its wingtip.
