In a project that looks like it is straight out of a Sci-Fi flick, Russian scientists at the Southern Federal University are all set to use mind power to control computers. For this project, they have already managed to get a grant of $750,000. The hardware basically consists of a metal helmet which is lined with electrodes. These electrodes sense voltage variations that occur due to different though processes. The voltages will then be decoded by a software that controls a computer. Though it sounds pretty straight forward, it is very complicated stuff that will need some real brainstorming on the part of the Russian scientists for the next 18 months. Lets hope that this project is very successful, for it would greatly help the specially abled easily use the computers.
