Necessity results in development. Medical fraternity needs best possible aid to assist them and also cater best to the patients. In order to furnish a solution to this necessity, Panasonic has developed the world’s first robotic bed that transforms itself into an autonomous wheelchair.
Combining its knowledge in high-tech medical devices with prowess in robotics, Panasonic has been able to muster this highly effective bed. Transferring a helpless patient from the bed to the wheelchair and back is a process to demanding and can be fatal in slightest negligence. Thus in case, a robot bed as this, which can modify itself into a wheelchair and vice-versa on the user’s command alone, can actually minimize on the transferring problems and also make things entirely independent for the ailing.
There no real word on how the machine does this. Okay, let’s not get into the freakin’ discussion; we will leave that till the 29th of the month, when the bed cum wheelchair will make its debut at the International Home Care & Rehabilitation Exhibition (H.C.R. 2009) in Tokyo between September 29 and October 1, 2009.
For now, just rejoice with the fact that life is going to get a high-leap for people who need assistance with daily living activities, as they’ll be able to move on their own, in their personal bed of course.
