A voice recorder is perhaps the most basic example of portable utility in an era where handiness determines the saleability of a product. And this gadget is also singularly responsible for the redundancy of a human profession that was once considered indispensable - the Personal Secretary. Gadget manufacturers have tried their best to set USPs for their voice recorders, but very few have succeeded in creating any impact. Sony is among the very few brands that believe in aesthetics (in addition to product efficacy) and in line with this identity, the company has unveiled its entry-level voice recorder, the ICD-B61 that combines basic utility with above average looks. The product is unique for its Voice-Operated Recording (VOR) feature, wherein the gadget starts recording as soon as it senses sound and stops automatically when there is no ambient sound.

The ICD-B61 offers 512MB of internal memory and around 301 hours of non-stop recording. It incorporates a 28mm mono speaker and delivers a maximum output power of 250mW. The product will be available by September 10th for a market price of 40€.
