With the advent of smartphones the clam shell style of cellular phone had receded back to oblivion until the launch of the new Sharp Aquos Phone The Hybrid 007 SH. The phone flips in and out to open or close and is powered by Android mobile operating system. It is deliberated with 3D LCD touch screen amenities and combines all smartphone services to a clam shell featured phone.

Sharp, one of the well-known Japanese manufacturers of electronic gadgets, has launched this clamshell handset known as the 'Aquos Phone the Hybrid 007SH'. This waterproof flip phone runs on Android 2.3 and flips open for keypad operation. There is a 0.7-inch OLED sub-display visible when the phone is closed and will show time and notifications for ease of the user.
The Hybrid 007SH is a power-packed gadget with a 3.4 inch 3D LCD touch screen of 854×480 dimension. It has a 16 megapixel rear camera with 1280x720 HD recording mode as well as 3D photo and 3D video mode, AQUOS TV connector, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth and Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). To top it off, it has an infrared port, Micro HDMI interface, Blu-ray recorder connectivity and digital wallet function (Felica/RFID). With dimensions of 113×51.8×19.3mm and a meager weight of 140g, it is like the world in your pocket with no sweat.

The launch of Aquos Hybrid 007SH is due in Japan in mid-June, however the global release is yet to be announced.
