The Crunchpad nears production with a final prototype in the ranks

How I wish I was part of the TechCrunch Team (not that I am not devoted to GW) for then I would have told the world, the feeling of laying your hands on one of the finest speculated tablets - the Crunchpad. My whimsies apart, the Michael Arrington dream is close to reality, as the latest prototype images reveal an 18mm-thick couch computing device done in aluminum. The choice of aluminum ensures that the product is sturdier and it helped them reduce the overall thickness.

Expensive as it is, the aluminum choice hints that the $200 pricing may just get boosted slightly. Fusion Garage is also working on the software, as the prototype previously was Linux based with the ability to directly boot to the browser. Arrington mentions that the working prototypes would be there in the TC office in a few weeks while the rest of us would get to know about it at the Silicon Valley gathering.
