The CQ-2 Personal Submarine: Underwater travel for you and me!

Underwater travel has always fascinated the adventure seekers. With most of the submarines designed for defence, people outside the navy had very few opportunities to experience the excitement of the deep blue. With the 2-seater CQ-2, personal submarines are now a reality. All the credit goes to Uboatworx, the company that introduced a single-seater personal sub – C-Quester - earlier.

CQ-2 runs on electricity and is optimized for steady cabin pressure. At all times, the pressure is maintained at 1 atm, enabling the passengers to travel without any decompression hassles. A full recharge of 14 hours lasts for 21/2 hours underwater and with the safety systems incorporated, you can stay underwater with enough air to last for 36 hours, which means you wouldn’t have to freak out in case of an emergency. If the company is to be believed, a four-seater version will also be available soon.

Powered by four 36V electric motors, of which two are utilized for the drive and two for upward and downward motion, the CQ-2 offers a thrust of 101lbs. The control module is simple to use, which means anybody can drive the CQ-2. However, the company has included a mandatory training course of 4-6 days to help you get acquainted with the controls. If you are diving after the sun is down, you can use the lamps provided in the CQ-2.

If you have affluence to flaunt, the $250,000 pricing of the submarine will not disappoint you. Wait for a year and you will have a wider choice with the four-seater model. The CQ-2 is a great investment for resorts. They can choose to join either the mile-high or mile-low clubs.
