The AcceleGlove expanding its horizons beyond gaming
AnthroTronix Inc. developed the AcceleGlove back in May this year and the mere intent was to bring into use gesture controlled movements using integrated accelerometers. At the time the technology was limited to gaming and robots but now the company wants to expand its periphery to more realistic propositions. The expansion would include law enforcement, firefighting, controlling robots in space and even dangerous industrial settings.

Since the defense agencies have also taken interest (the US Army, Navy and Air Force are funding AnthroTronix) in further development of the AcceleGlove, it is evident that the AcceleGlove would be brought into use on the battlefield. It could help in transmission of important information such as shortage of troops at a particular place. The concerned soldier would simply use a hand gesture to relay such an important message that would be transferred in a matter of seconds to the base camp.
The AcceleGlove is currently priced at $499 which the firm believes is a fair enough price even for a grad student who wants to use it as a research base. Despite this, AnthroTronix is depending on the gaming community to eventually help bring the prices down, when these gloves get thoroughly popular.
