We’ve seen it over the years in animated depictions, but is it the future now? Are we ready for a realty which plies on the road and flies in the skies? If not too bad, and if you’ve moved with the transitioning world, then you have woken up to a truth, the first successful flight of a flying car (conducted on March 5). You can’t better the fact how desperately I need a flying car, with these endless road congestions and traffic jams I have to face to make it to anyplace beyond home. But then, I only played a means of words for the witnesses who saw the Terrafugia Transition flying car take off from the airport in Pittsburgh.

The aviation industry and automotive engineering have created wonders over time, but this feat has only been an extended dream for nearly a decade century now. Green credentials would have been an added boost to the creation, but then functionality is the key I guess. Terrafugia , with its roadable airplane the Transition have notched the pinnacle there, and will surely play around with the diminutives ultimately.

On exhibition at the Boston Museum of Science from March 18, the Transition that cruises at 115mph before folding its wings to hit the highways, would require the driver/pilot to have a light sport license to fly. Capable of venturing for about 450 miles on a single fuel charge (normal gas, unleaded petrol), the Transition slated to go on sale by the end of this year is lightweight but with a very heavy price tag - $194,000 to meet.
