More than 100 homes with smart technology have been built in S Korea and some 30,000 have been planned. These homes have been built with some serious technology in mind.

The walls have a control panel which can be used to control all the devices in the house. The air purifying system delivers pure air to the residents and can be controlled from the control panel that is on the wall. The secret of the technology is that these homes use electricity cables for both power and data transfer.

All the appliances in the house have to be compatible with a system called HomeNet. This limits the appliances that can be used in the house.
The control panel that is the heart of the system also keeps track for electricity consumed and can also pay the bill.
The TV is also linked to the system and can tell you when your washing machine has finished and it also works as a door camera and tell you who is on the door and you can decide whether to let that person in or not.
The residents of this house will wear a wrist PC that will enable them to control their house from a remote location.
Electronics Giant LG has powered these houses.

In the future we can expect the houses which are totally controlled by the wrist PC and it will also tell the wearer's position in the house at all times. In the future homes every thing will be voice activated and your fridge will tell you what all can you make for dinner with the food items in it. It will also tell you when your food is out of date. The technology will rely on the RFID tags that will be on the containers of the food items.
But what if the food is not packaged...?
Other improvements that will come in the future is a high-tech wardrobe that will select your clothes according to the outside climate and will tell you when some of your clothes need washing.
But I can say that for such homes we will have to wait for a long time as along with these homes other technologies will also be have to be lifted so that we can see vegetables with an RFID tag for the fridge to recognize them...!
