front_h7TFg_3342Ton Khowdee is back with a bang. And quite close to literality at that! If TiTON’s earlier creations had you salivating all over them, this one’s going to redefine ‘stunning’. Whoever said software engineers are experts only in the virtual realm will eat humble pie, with TiTON’s Team Fortress 2 Sentry Mod setting new benchmarks for physical detailing in case mods. Ton’s labor of love is indeed mind-boggling to say the least. And if this news ain’t enough to blow your brains off, take this! The Sentry Mod is the ultimate LAN machine, with specs that can put even the T1000 of Terminator fame to shame. An EVGA e-7150 / 630i Motherboard sits at the Sentry Mod’s core, which is powered by an Intel C2D E8500 CPU.

Looks are quite deceptive and the Sentry is no archaic metal contraption. It can give the most powerful computers of today a run for their money, with its EVGA GeForce 9600 GT Graphics Card, 160GB Seagate Momentus Notebook Hard Drive, 4GB Crucial Tracer PC2-6400 DDR2 Memory, Silverstone Strider 650W Modular PSU & Silverstone NT06 Lite CPU cooler w/ 120mm Fan. And like all great things, the Genesis is always small. The essentials first! Twelve 10ft long tubes will serve as your barrel for the Gatling Gun (six for each turret). And to make sure that Green Peace doesn’t hound you, use ambient-friendly wooden planks for the 12” ABS. Get the craftsman in you to take over and chisel the wood well enough to hold the tubes perfectly.

The frame of the Sentry Mod comes next. Take plexi-glass, sized 1/4th of an inch, and bend it into neat ‘J’ frames with a heat gun. Create small MDF seats to hold the ABS rotating barrel in place. The rocket launcher is definitely the USP of this wonderful mod and to create that, you would require an old Shuttle PC case. Keep an epoxy resin handy to take care of the fixtures. The next most important thing is the Sentry’s legs. And, the primary purpose here is stability. Cut the wooden planks into dog-leg shapes to create the legs for your mod. The whole structure will sit atop a tripod and image 7 in the gallery shows you how.

Now that you have created the components of the mod, get the pieces together and prime them for a neat paint job. Once this is taken care of, the focus shifts to the bullets. And perfection seems to be our single biggest hurdle here. We are happy about it, though. To make sure your bullets look their part, get some ‘real’ tools like a plasma cutter, a cross-thestical amp, etc. And, of course, a discarded M60 ammunition belt! Assemble the sentry together after the launcher job is taken care of as well and move to the CPU. Use an old PVC pot to create the housing for the electronics. Place the PC inside the ammo and seal it inside the grille. Follow the images for all the know-how! When your Sentry mod is assembled together, move a few paces back and admire your best creation.
