TDK has finally confirmed that it’s working on rewritable Blu-ray disc with 200GB of storage capacity. To be straight, it’s four time the capacity of the largest first-generation dual-layer Blu-ray blanks and around three times the capacity of most of the current hard drives. That’s killing for hard drives and users might prefer to move on with a single disk fulfilling their hard drive needs.



TDK rolled out its 100GB prototype in May 2005 and has straightaway doubled the size with its new 200GB disk. The 100GB disks offered a write speed of up to 216Mbps and the upcoming one will perhaps be more than that.
